 Get started

★ It was launched by India on 19 April 1975.

★ From the Russian rocket launch site and development site Kabustin Yar on the Astrakhan Oblast using the Cosmos-3M missile.  It was built by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

★ This missile was operated by UR Rao from an agreement between India and the Soviet Union and signed in 1972.  This allowed the USSR to use Indian ports to monitor ships and launch ships.  For launching various Indian satellites.

★ On 19 April 1975, the satellite had a perimeter of 619 kilometers (385 miles) in a 96.46 minute orbit and 563 kilometers (350 miles) at an inclination of 50.7 degrees.  It was built to conduct experiments in X-ray astronomy, astronomy and solar physics.

★ The spacecraft is 26-sided polyhedron 1.4 meters (4.6 feet) in diameter.  All faces (except upper and lower) were covered by solar cells.

★ A power outage stopped the tests after four days.

★ and 60 orbits that lost all signals of the spacecraft after five days.  The spacecraft's mainframe was active until March 1981.

★ The satellite entered the Earth's atmosphere on 11 February 1992 due to orbital decay.

 Legacy

★ Named after Aryabhata in memory of the 5th century astronomer and mathematician from India.

★ Satellite image appeared on the back of two Indian rupee notes between 1976 and 1997 (selection table).
